Outline Project Description

Detailed design for the replacement of 2No existing 33kV and 1No 11kV circuits, and associated fibre optic cables between existing OHL terminations and Rheidol substation. Works also include diversion of existing overhead 11kV circuit.

Horizontal Directional Drill Underground Cable

Cable replacement design is by HDD from Rheidol Power Station to the crest
of the hill some 200m plus rise in level. There are to be 2Nr shots each containing 4Nr 125 SDR 11 PE
ducts, 1Nr 90 SDR 11 PE duct, 1Nr 160 SDR 11 PE duct. . For each shot three of the 125mm ducts are to contain three single core 33kV XLPE cables with the forth being spare. The 90mm duct is for the 48 fibre optic cables.
Only one of the shots will utilise the 160mm duct for an 11kV triplex XLPE cable with the second shot
being retained as a spare duct.
